Google Takeout

Google Takeout is a new service from Google allowing you to look at or download a copy of all the information Google has on you. This includes emails, photos, files, contacts, etc. You are able to both create an archive from your google accounts or do a file transfer between google accounts.

Archive

1. Sign in with your REMC credentials.
2. The first page has a list of all Google services. Choose the services you wish to download.
   1. Some services have a drop down menu for details and options, (eg. Contacts allows different formats for viewing).
3. Click on the "Next" button.
4. Select the file type you wish to download the information as.
   
   1. .zip - The most common compressed file type and can be opened on most computers. If there is any doubt select this option.
   2. .tgz - Is most like the .zip file. It can, however, keep more information in the file. This may need extra software on the computer to be opened.
   3. .tbz - Is also like the .zip file, but the opposite of a .tgz file. The .tbz can only hold one file to compress.
5. Next, select the method for getting your archived information.
   1. "Send link to Email" - Will send a link to the location of the archive.
   2. "Add to Drive" - Will add the archive to the Google drive of the logged in email address (the data can be downloaded from here).
   3. "Add to Dropbox" - Will add the archive to Dropbox. You must link your google account and dropbox account for this to work.
   4. "Add to Microsoft OneDrive" - Will add the archive to your Microsoft account. You must link the Microsoft account and Google account for this to work.
6. Wait. This information takes a while to find and compress. You will receive an email when the setup has been done and your requested information is available.
   
   

Transfer

Go to this link https://takeout.google.com/transfer

1. Enter the email address of the google account you want to transfer your files to.
2. Hit the blue "Send Code" button. This will send an email to the address you listed above with a confirmation code that will need to be entered in the next step.
3. Once you have the confirmation code, enter it in google takeout.
4. With the code verification complete, select the products that you want to transfer to another account.
5. Hit the blue "Start Transfer" button and the transfer process will begin. This transfer may take a while.
