The FortiGate Proxy is currently being used at Calumet Public schools and Adams Township Schools in order to filter web traffic on student machines to remain compliant with CIPA. In order to browse the web on a Chromebook while it is not connected to the school's network, it will require the user to login to the FortiGate web proxy upon each login. Please follow the below steps in order to connect to the proxy. Please note that the proxy should not be prompted while connected to the school's network.

  1. Before even logging into the Chromebook, connect to your home wireless.
  2. Login to the Chromebook using the student's email address and their network password.
  3. Immediately after logging into the device, the proxy will be prompted at the top of the page. Enter the FULL email address. For example username@students.clkschools.org (it needs to be the entire @students.clkschools.org email or whichever district this applies to). They'll also need to submit their network password (same password used to login to the Chromebook, email, computers, etc).
  4. If the proxy prompt does not show up, please refresh the page or attempt to navigate to any website. Also ensure that the device is connected to a wireless network.
  5. If all else fails, please visit https://support.remc1.net/ to submit a ticket explaining the issue in detail.
